Choir
Prerequisite: Audition only & teacher signature
The Concert Choir consists of advanced boys and girls who have passed a vocal audition. Mature singing skills and the desire for achieving excellence are criteria for this vocal group. An advanced level of vocal training will be taught, as well as the performance of challenging three and four part choral literature of various styles, languages, and levels of difficulty. In this year long course, students will learn skills to read music and develop their musicianship. FIELD TRIPS AND CONCERTS ARE MANDATORY FOR THIS CLASS.
Students will be asked to provide black pants, black socks, black shoes, AND purchase a Rowe MS Music Dept. polo shirt ($15.00) for their casual performance uniform. For festival and concert performances, students will be required to wear a choir robe (rented from the school) for $15.00 to cover dry cleaning & repairs AND wear black dress pants, black socks and black shoes (boys) and black dress shoes and nylons (girls). Total cost for performance attire is $30.00. There may be approximately $7.00-$10.00 in additional costs for end of the year trip expense.
INTERMEDIATE - 7th/8th Graders (May be taken 1, 2 or 3 Trimesters) and
CADET CHOIR: 6th graders (year long)

The Mixed Choir is open to any beginning or intermediate singer (boys & girls) who loves to sing and wishes to develop their vocal instrument. The purpose of the choir is to develop the voice through vocal training in a group setting and to provide opportunities for vocal performance. In the choral setting, the singer experiences singing in unison, two and three part harmony, learning to read choral music, and performing literature in various styles and levels of difficulty. FIELD TRIPS AND CONCERTS ARE MANDATORY FOR THIS CLASS.

Prerequisite: NON-Audition
In wheel singing, students are introduced to various forms of group singing. We will learn a few choral pieces and perform a small concert at the end of the course. During the class, students will also be introduced to multicultural singing games and other vocal activities.
There are no fees for this class.
